The puppet is of moderate to high quality and is cute, but is somewhat difficult for a large adult hand to manuever, the opening to move the mouth is very small.

Like many of the reviews have said, the puppet is difficult to control. Way back in the day, I had a better version of the puppet as a small kid. The arms were controlled by strings on the outside that you could pull down and they would spring back up when you let go. Best of all, the mouth was wider and had a hole. I spent hours making the puppet eat things just like he did on TV. This is maybe sturdier than my old puppet, but way less fun too.

Ok, our 3-month-old infant LOVES visits from Cookie Monster. In fact, we can play for 40-60 minutes. She loves to give Cookie hugs as he waxes on about how cookies are delicious with milk but are sometimes-food. Sure she doesn’t understand what he’s saying, but Cookie is smaller than her (and non-threatening), very animated (like I said-gives great hugs), and super soft. She laughs and speaks to him as if they were best friends.
I have to agree with some of the reviews in that I can’t actually articulate his mouth very well. Short of adding arm rod controls or sacrificing moving arms, I’m not sure you can. But it’s all about attitude. You have to feel your inner Cookie Monster, make the monster voice, and talk up a storm. Kids I think will forgive the fact that his lips don’t move.

Our two year old loves to have Mom or Dad be Cookie Monster so he can make him cookies. This cute puppet just adds to his fun. Goes well with his Elmo puppet and they have cookies together quite often.
